En. Abarra et al., The effect of orientation ratio on the dynamic coercivity of media for > 15 Gbit/in(2) recording, IEEE MAGNET, 35(5), 1999, pp. 2709-2711
The dynamic coercivity of longitudinal magnetic recording media has been in
vestigated using a spin-stand. Improvement of the media orientation ratio (
O.R.) or the inplane alignment of the anisotropy axes not only results in t
he improvement of thermal stability at storage times but also in a reductio
n of the difference between the coercivity at high data rates (<10 ns) and
at semi-de conditions (greater than or equal to 1 s). Comparison of remanen
ce curves at 1 s and 14.3 ns indicate that the optimum writing current does
not increase as significantly as the coercivity.
