Abstract
A high numerical aperture Solid Immersion lens (SIL MO) magneto-optical rec ording system based on supersphere SIL approach is described. Effects of SI L on the recording performance of the magneto optical system are analyzed, It is found that effective numerical aperture as high as 1.46 can be achiev ed using a contact SIL operation mode and evanescent coupling optimized TbF eCo recording media. A novel quadrilayer media design with CNR value of 50 dB is proposed.
