The reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV)/zirconium(IV) dichloride
and mono(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) trichloride with 4-amino-3-mercapto
-6-methyl-5-oxo-1,2,4-triazine and its schiff bases (derived from benzaldeh
yde, 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, anisaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, 2-hydroxynapthald
ehyde and 2-hydroxyacetophenone), have been studied in anhydrous tetrahydro
furan or dichloromethane in the absence and presence of amine in different
molar ratios. Tentative structures have been proposed for the products base
d on elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moments and spect
ral (electronic, infrared and H-1 NMR) data. Proton NMR spectra indicate th
at there is rapid rotation of the cyclopentadienyl ring around the metal -
ring axis an the NMR time scale at 20 degrees C.
