Abstract
The oxidative addition of N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) to [Pt( PPh3)(4)] in a s toichometric reaction results in the formation of the succinimidato complex [Pt(Br)(NCOC2H4CO)(PPh3)(2)] (1) with displacement of two moles of triphen ylphosphine. Reactions of NBS with [Pd(dba)(2)] (dba = dibenzylideneacetone ) in the presence of PPh3 (1:2) or dppe (1:1) yield the complexes [Pd(Br) ( NCOC2H4CO) (PPh3)(2)] (2) and [Pd(Br) (NCOC2H4CO) (dppe)] (3) respectively. The molecular structure of 1 was elucidated by X-ray diffraction analysis revealing cis stereochemistry for the triphenylphosphines. (C) 1999 Elsevie r Science S.A. All rights reserved.
