We report the development and application of a sensor using acousto-optic t
unable filter (AOTF) and sol-gel probe technology. A. pH-sensitive probe is
used as a model sensing system with dextran derivatives of pH sensitive dy
es doped into sol-gel thin films. We used a unique combination of pH-sensit
ive and pH-insensitive dual-label dye system. For optimization studies, the
performance of these films as a pH sensing probe was evaluated using synch
ronous fluorescence detection. The performance of the a prototype AOTF-base
d monitor using a low-power argon laser as an ion excitation source was eva
luated.
