The synthesis of 1-(N-But-4-yl-pyrrol)-1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino boran
e) ethane is described. Electropolymerisation of this monomer in aceto
nitrile produces functionalised polypyrrole films, bearing supported d
iphosphine ligands protected from oxidation by borane groups. The inco
rporation of palladium can be achieved in preformed films to generate
palladium(0) catalysts.
