We investigated the distortion effects on the spin transfer coefficient D-n
n for the intermediate energy (p, n) charge exchange reactions leading to t
he Gamow-Teller resonance-in the continuum region. When the distortion is i
ncluded, the imaginary parts of both the central and the tensor direct cont
ributions are significantly changed. Also, the magnitude of T-00 becomes sm
aller, which results in larger D-nn values. We also found that when the dis
tortion is included the phase difference between T-00 and T-20 in the compl
ex plane remains almost the same for different Q-values.
