K. Yamada et al., A case of a dog with thickened calvaria with neurologic symptoms: Magneticresonance imaging (MRI) findings, J VET MED S, 61(9), 1999, pp. 1055-1057
A 6-year-old female mongrel dog weighing 9.0 kg was presented ananastatic,
with clouding of consciousness, bilateral loss of hearing and depressed rea
ctivity of the eyes to light. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination
showed that the calvaria was markedly thickened with compression to the cer
ebrum and cerebellum. The case of a dog with thickened calvaria with compre
ssion of the cerebrum and cerebellum which could not be diagnosed by conven
tional measures was amenable to diagnosis by MRI. With increased applicatio
n of MRI examination, such canine cases might increase in number.
