Abstract
Transgenic animals and knockout mice have been generated with defined defec ts in various components of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the autonomic nervous system. These models provide valuable and novel insights into the development, crosstalk, organization, and functioning of the stre ss system.
