N. Richard et al., Kerr and Faraday rotations of magneto-optical multilayers under the condition of total internal reflection, PHYS ST S-A, 175(1), 1999, pp. 225-232
This paper describes the magneto-optical effects of metallic multilayers un
der the condition of total internal reflection. In the framework of the Gre
en's dyadic technique, we present numerical simulations which account for t
he variation of the magneto-optical signal with either the angle of inciden
ce or the wavelength. Kerr and Faraday rotations are found to increase sign
ificantly around the critical angle. We also discuss the importance of plas
mon effects in the structure of the Kerr and Faraday rotations spectra.
