Abstract
The effects of the methanol extract from the aerial parts of Oenanthe javanica Dc., which have been used in Korean folklore medicine for alc ohol detoxication, and the component isolated from this plant, persica rin on the hepatic enzyme were studied. The methanol extract and persi carin enhanced the activities of alcohol dehydrogenase, microsomal eth anol oxidizing system and aldehyde dehydrogenase in the liver of rats intoxicated with ethanol.
