Abstract
The first records of biting and predaceous midges of the tribes Culicoidini and Ceratopogonini are provided from Tierra del Fuego and the Magallanes. A new species of predaceous midge, Macrurohelea yamana, is described and il lustrated from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Paradasyhelea brevipalpis (Ingr am and Macfie), Austrohelea shannoni (I. and M.), Stilobezzia (Acanthohelea ) varia I. and M., and S. (A.) succinea I. and M., are recorded for the fir st time from Tierra del Fuego and the Magallanes.
