Abstract
The reaction between benzyl chlorides and thiols is catalysed efficiently b y a new basic clay, Cat-1 prepared by introducing 3-aminopropyltriethoxysil ane into clay interlayers of K-10 and KSF montmorillonites, as well as bent onite clays affording high yields of the corresponding sulphides.
