Abstract
Genome rearrangements are responsible for the variability observed at the e nds of the chromosome among Streptomyces species. The characterization of m utators, which are stimulated for genome plasticity, and of mutants produce d at different stages of development support the idea that genome instabili ty is developmentally modulated.
