A hierarchical model of a chemical engineering system is proposed. The syst
em is partitioned into four hierarchical levels: molecular, phase, apparatu
s, and plant. Each has its own function of the distribution of its segments
over states. The kinetic equations for the distribution functions of all t
he levels are supposed to be similar. It is also assumed that the fluctuati
on scale of state parameters is commensurable to the level scale. Relations
hips between the hierarchical and conventional models are specified. The mo
del is used to interpret experimental data on chemical engineering systems.
