Two specific methods to determine the high-temperature textures of parent p
hases are tested. These methods are based on the orientation relationship b
etween the parent and the inherited phases, and require specific applicatio
n conditions which are outlined. To check their reliabilities, the methods
are tested on the texture of a beta titanium alloy which underwent the beta
--> alpha phase transformation. A good agreement is obtained between both
indirectly calculated beta textures and the reference one, classically meas
ured. Thus, it can be concluded that in many cases it is possible to study
high-temperature parent textures by these methods, without measuring the te
xtures in situ with a specific attachment.
