Abstract
After presenting a survey of theoretical results concerning the structure o f two-dimensional QCD, we present a numerical study related to the mass eig enstates and the decay amplitudes of higher mesonic states. We discuss in d etail the fate of important dynamical points such as stability of the spect rum and the problem of screening versus confinement in this context. We poi nt out differences in the large distance behavior of the potential, which c an be responsible for the question of stability of the spectrum, as well as for the question whether it is finite.
