The pulmonary autograft procedure has been shown to provide excellent hemod
ynamic results in young patients with aortic pathology. However, the use of
this procedure in those with more complex aortic disease has not been exte
nsively evaluated. The purpose of this report is to present the application
of the Ross procedure in a 21-year-old man with extensive acquired aortic
root pathology, both subannular and supraannular, and prosthetic valve dysf
unction after two previous procedures. (C) 1999 by The Society of Thoracic
