Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine if the pattern of deficits in wri tten language production persists at one year after resolution post traumat ic amnesia. Seventy-one children, aged 8 to 15 years, with mild, moderate a nd severe closed head injury were compared with controls who were individua lly matched on the premorbid characteristics of age, gender, school grade, behaviour and academic performance. For children with severe injury, defici ts in written language persist at 1 year. Although the extent of the defici ts lessens somewhat, the pattern of deficit at 1 month and 1 year are simil ar.
