The LMW glutenin subunits of 9 old Hungarian wheat cultivars were studied u
sing one-step, one-dimensional SDS-PAGE. The separation resulted in 6-14 ba
nds (patterns) of proteins with a molecular weight range of 30-60 KD. The r
elative mobility and intensity of the bands was evaluated using a computer
program.
A comparison of the cultivars (which all showed differences in their HMW gl
utenin subunit patterns) demonstrated that the LMW glutenin patterns of the
cultivars differed both from the qualitative and the quantitative points o
f view.
