This paper presents the elements needed to carry out thermodynamic assessme
nts of phase equilibria in binary systems of normal alkanes in the range fr
om hexadecane (C16H34) to octacosane (C28H58) and so for the transition fro
m the ordered mixed solid state to the mixed rotator state: the methodology
of the computations and the transition properties of the pure component su
bstances as a function of chain length. The proposed approach is applied to
the system tricosane (C23H48) + pentacosane (C25H52), for which the basic
experimental phase diagram data are presented.
