Abstract
We have found from the fracture mechanics rupture model of earthquakes that the peak ground acceleration PGA and velocity PGV and displacement PGD str ongly depend on the tectonic ambient shear stress value tau(0). tau(0) valu e is introduced into the predictive equation of PGD by us, at the same time the dependence of predominant frequency of PGD f(d) on magnitude is consid ered. Based on both improvements, the predictive equation of PGD (CLB98d) h as been derived from theoretical analysis. It has been tested by observatio n data that this predictive equationit is suitable for epicentral distance range Delta = 10-250km and magnitude range M-W = 4-7.2. There are different tau(0) values in different regions all over the world, but the influence o f tau(0) value on PGD is not large.
