Abstract
In view that Liaohe basin was stretched multiply during the Cenozoic, a pur e shear model is put forward to suit for tectono-thermal modeling of multip le stretching basins. This model has considered the inheritance of multiple stretching, the stretching nonuniformity and the variety of stretching rat e. By contrast: of several kinds of stretching rate, it shows that selectio n of stretching rate has great significance in modeling the evolution proce ss of young basins. In the end, the model is applied to study the thermal h istory of Liaohe basin in the Cenozoic.
