Abstract
Tinea nigra, a superficial fungal infection caused by Phaeoannellomyces wer neckii, presents as a hyperpigmented, nonscaling macule of Variable size an d shape. Typically lacking induration, erythema, or pruritus, these "ink sp ot" lesions may resemble junctional nevi or malignant melanoma. Rapid, noni nvasive diagnosis can be provided by potassium hydroxide examination, demon strating numerous large, dematiaceous hyphae.
