Abstract
(Alkoxymethyl)dimethyl{2-hydroxy-5-[(4-X-phenyl)azo]benryl}ammonium chlorid es were prepared in high yield. All these chlorides, new analogues of benza lkonium chloride, showed antimicrobial activity. Activity depends on the le ngth and kind of substituent at the quaternary nitrogen atom.
