(K0.5Na0.5)(0.4)(Sr0.6Ba0.4)(0.8)Nb2O6 (KNSBN) powders and thin films were
prepared by the sol-gel method. The sol was formed by using 2-methoxyethano
l as both the solvent and the sol stabilizer. Powders were obtained by dryi
ng the KNSBN sol, and annealed at different temperatures. Films of 650 nm t
hick were deposited by dip coating method. Structural changes in these sol-
gel derived KNSBN samples were monitored by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Ram
an spectroscopy (RS) as a function of annealing temperature. Complete conve
rsion to the tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure were obtained at 1,
200 degrees C and 800 degrees C for KNSBN powders and films respectively.
