Abstract
The textures of ferroelectric liquid crystal D-4-(2-methylbutoxy) phenyl 4- dodecyloxybenzoate (MBOPDoOB) were observed using polarizing microscope dur ing cooling. At different cooling rates, two kinds of textures of solid pha ses were observed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman scattering were used t o investigate the structure and vibrational properties of the quench-induce d metastable phase.
