Abstract
We examine linear and nonlinear far-infrared reflection from a ferroelectri c surface including a gradient term in the polarisation. The results show h ow linear spectroscopy may measure previously undetermined gradient and sur face parameters. Second harmonic generation is discussed, with results for nonlinear reflection.
