A series of pendant-arm Schiff base macrocycles have been obtained via the
cyclocondensation reaction between sodium 2,6-diformyl-4-substitutedphenola
tes and tris-(2-aminoethyl)- amine derivatives followed by transmetallation
with Cu(ClO4)(2). 6H(2)O. The resulting dinuclear copper(II) complexes hav
e been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and mass spectra as we
ll as magnetic moments at room temperature. All complexes have been electro
chemically investigated, and two typical compounds have been studied with E
SR spectra as well.
