Ma. Misdaq et al., The influence of the lithology and granulation on radon emanation in a sedimentary phosphatic deposit using solid state nuclear track detectors, J RAD NUCL, 242(1), 1999, pp. 41-48
Samples have been collected from different layers in a sedimentary phosphat
ic deposit and sieved. Different granulometric fractions have been selected
. The uranium and thorium contents have been determined in each phosphate s
ample and its corresponding selected fractions. Radon (Rn-222) alpha-activi
ties per unit volume have been evaluated inside and outside each phosphate
sample and its corresponding selected fractions by using CR-39 and LR-115 t
ype II solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTD). The radon emanation coe
fficient in each phosphate layer has been determined and the global radon a
lpha activity outside a parallelepipedic block of the layers studied was ev
aluated. The influence of the lithology and granulation on the radon emanat
ion has been studied.
