E. Makrlik et al., Extraction of barium using nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate in the presence of 15-crown-5, J RAD NUCL, 242(1), 1999, pp. 207-209
From extraction experiments with Na-22 as a tracer, the extraction constant
corresponding to the equilibrium Ba2+(aq)+2NaL(+)(nb)reversible arrow reve
rsible arrow BaL22+(nb)+2Na(+)(aq) taking place in the two-phase water-nitr
obenzene system (L = 15-crown-5, aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phas
e) was evaluated as log K-ex(Ba2+,2NaL(+)) = 3.3+/-0.1. Further, the stabil
ity constant of the complex BaL22+ in nitrobenzene saturated with water was
calculated: log beta(nb)(BaL22+) = 16.4+/-0.1.
