Pregnane glycosides from Gymnema alternifolium

Three new polyoxypregnane glycosides, gymnepregosides G, H, and I, together with four known compounds were isolated from the stems of Gymnema alternif olium. The structural elucidation were determined principally by spectral d ata, and assigned to be 12-O-cinnamoyl-3 beta,5 alpha,8 beta,12 beta,14 bet a,17 beta,20-heptahydroxy-(20S)-pregn-6-enyl-3-O-beta-D-cymaropyranoside (1 ), 20-O-benzoyl-12-O-cinnamoyl-3 beta,5 alpha,8 beta,12 beta,14 beta,17 bet a,20-heptahydroxy-(20S)-pregn-6-enyl-3-O-beta-D-cymaropyranoside (2), and p enupogenin 3-O-beta-D-cymaropyranoside (3), respectively.
