Inonotus quercustris and I. texanus are recorded and described for the firs
t time outside their known distributional range in the USA. They were found
in the subxerophytic to xerophytic Chaco phytogeographical Province in Cen
tral W and NW Argentina, growing on Lithraea ternifolia (Anacardiaceae) and
Acacia caven (Fabaceae), and Acacia sp., Prosopis sp. (Fabaceae) and Schin
opsis quebracho-colorado (Anacardiaceae), respectively.
