Abstract
Venustusporium chelysforme gen. & sp. nov. found in a rainforest on rotted leaves of Bactris setulosa Karsten, is described and illustrated. This genu s is characterized by murifonn, turtle-shaped, discoid to flattened, pale b rown to brown, conidia with interesting uncinate to corniform peripheral or namentation. The new taxon is compared with closely related genera.
