Abstract
The GTP-binding protein ARF induces the recruitment to the Golgi membrane o f kinases that catalyse the synthesis of the lipid phosphatidylinositol-4,5 -bisphosphate. This lipid acts as a binding site for certain actin-binding proteins, which may change the Golgi membrane skeleton to a form that allow s membrane traffic.
