A 54-year-old woman presented with an expansive mass in the anterior cervic
al region (front of the neck) with abscess. Laboratory tests and thyroid pr
ofile proved normal. Surgical exploration revealed a hydatid cyst in the le
ft lobe of the thyroid gland with parasitic metastasis of the left lateral
cervical lymph node chain. Postoperative examination of the nodule showed i
t to be a solitary primary thyroid hydatid cyst.
