Abstract
A recently proposed photonic blockade mechanism using four-level atoms insi de an optical cavity is reviewed and analyzed. Various possible theoretical approaches are discussed, including adiabatic elimination of atomic variab les, linearization, and numerical calculations in the weak excitation regim e.
