M. Hirami et T. Matsuda, Phase behavior of binary mixture systems of two crystallizable components.Semicrystalline polymers and wholly-crystalline substances, POLYM J, 31(9), 1999, pp. 801-805
The phase behavior of binary mixture systems of two crystallizable componen
ts including semicrystalline polymers and wholly-crystalline substances are
investigated systematically. On the basis of the general melting temperatu
re equation, the features of melting temperature diagram, i.e., higher and
lower melting temperatures-composition relations are presented for three ca
tegories of binary mixtures; (A) two wholly-crystalline substances, (B) a s
emicrystalline polymer and a wholly-crystalline substance and (C) two semic
rystalline polymers. Applications to two cases of binary mixtures are demon
strated; first, in category B, mixtures of polyethylene and n-alkane (liter
ature data of Mandelkern et al.), and second, in category C, mixtures of ny
lon 6 and nylon 66 (our data in this series).
