The preparation and microstructural examination of layers in ceramic-metallic composite systems

The preparation of layers in combinations of ceramic - metallic materials i s discussed. Examples are shown of the microstructures of ceramic flame spr ayed and plasma sprayed coatings on metallic substrates, of TIC on graphite , of copper on aluminium nitride, of a zinc oxide varistor (variable resist or) with platinum multi-layers, and of graphite / TZM-, Glass solder / stee l and ceramic / cermetallic composites. Suggestions are also made for the p reparation of these combinations of materials, together with methods for th e contrasting of their microstructures.
