Abstract
The empirical study "Determinants of Teachers' Burnout" examines the epidem iology and causes of burnout in relation to an extern criterion. This abstr act explores by considering a sample of Austrian and German teachers that b urnout is based on two factors "emotional exhaustion" and "feeling of failu re" (personal accomplishment). Depersonalization - the third factor accordi ng to the mainstream of burnout - is involved in the factor "feeling of fai lure", a special criterion of teacher's burnout. The nature of burnout is b ased on frustration as a conflict of values and existential vacuum. Active coping skills in a good working social environment are necessary to prevent this syndrome among teachers.
