Studies on the differentiation of mycobacteria

The National Veterinary Reference Laboratory for tuberculosis was founded i n 1996, The results of studies on the differentiation of mycobacteria by mi crobiological, biochemical and molecular biological methods from this time until 1998 are described. Although a number of correlations between the res ults of the various methods have been observed no satisfactory, systematic agreement has been achieved. The conclusion is that molecular biological me thods should be more widely used in future.
