Abstract
Active thylakoid membranes were prepared from Synechococcus PCC7002 in a medium that contained glycinebetaine. The oxygen-evolving activity of photosystem II of these thylakoid membranes was enhanced and stabil ized by the presence of glycinebetaine. The heat stability of the oxyg en evolving activity of the thylakoid membranes was also enhanced by g lycinebetaine.
