OBJECTIVE. Percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy was recently introduc
ed as a new treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma in our country. We perfo
rmed this study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this therapy for tre
atment of hepatocellular carcinoma, especially for tumors located on the su
rface of the liver.
CONCLUSION. Percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy can be performed saf
ely even in patients with cirrhosis and can achieve complete remission of s
mall hepatocellular carcinomas (less than or equal to 2.0 cm) located on th
e surface of the liver.
