Abstract
High spin states in neutron-rich odd-N Ba-145 nucleus have been investigate d from study of prompt gamma-rays in spontaneous fission of Cf-252. The alt ernating parity bends are identified indicating octupole deformation with s implex quantum number s = -i. The ground state band shows signature splitti ng and inversion at low spin. These collective band structures exhibit the competition and co-existence between symmetric and asymmetric shapes.
