Abstract
To determine the effects of extremely low-frequency (ELF) inductively coupl ed weak magnetic fields on the proliferation of 6B1 hybridoma cells, we ado pted 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazolyl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) color imetry for determination of dehydrogenase production. The result shows that 0.8 mT, 30 Hz (Helmholtz coils) significantly inhibits proliferation on th e order of -40%. At lower and higher frequencies, this restriction decrease s to zero, or even changes to positive values. This outcome is rather rare for proliferation responses and is discussed with other ''electromagentic f ield windows."
