Abstract
A fortuitous finding during open heart surgery of lipomatous hypertrop hy of the interatrial septum is described in a 65-year old man with is chaemic heart complaints due to coronary artery disease and with prema ture ventricular contractions. An incision biopsy confirmed the diagno sis. The choice of treatment of lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatr ial septum is controversial. Indications for surgery and surgical tech niques are discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
