Abstract
Near-infrared absorption lines of 2916, 4066, 4113, 4139 and 4168 cm(- 1) have been observed in type IIa diamond neutron irradiated and annea led at temperatures higher than 1400 degrees C. A photochromic behavio ur of these defects under various illumination conditions is reported and the phenomenon is explained by a charge transfer model. (C) 1997 E lsevier Science Ltd.
