Abstract
The three-dimensional coordination polymer [Cd-2(4,4'-bipy)(2)(H2O)(3)(SO4) (2)]. 3H(2)O (1) was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of 4,4'-bipyr idine with CdSO4. 8/3H(2)O in 1:1 mole ratio in a sealed tube at 120 degree s C. The compound was characterized by FT-IR, diffuse reflectance UV-Vis, X -ray powder diffraction and single crystal X-ray analysis. The structure fe atures three-dimensional, interwoven networks. Semiquantitative Kurtz-Perry powder measurements showed that 1 possesses a second-order harmonic genera tion efficiency of ca. 27% of potasium dihydrogen phosphate. (C) 1999 Elsev ier Science S.A.
