Abstract
A new sterol, 4 alpha-methyl-24-methylene-5 alpha-cholestan-3 beta,8 beta-d iol (1) and three known sterols 4 alpha-methyl-24-methylenecholestan-3 beta -ol, 4 alpha-methylcholestan-3 beta-ol and 24-methylenecholest-4-en-3-one a re isolated from the soft coral Nephthea chabroli and characterized through spectral data and in the case of 1 by X-ray crystallographic analysis.
