The results of an experimental study of temperature and light-intensity dep
endence measurements of photoinduced linear dichroism of amorphous As2S3 ar
e given. At temperatures close to the glass transition temperature, a light
-intensity dependence of the saturation of the photoinduced dichroism (PDi)
is observed. The build-up kinetics of the PDi are analysed as a function o
f temperature and light intensity. These new data show that the so-called r
eciprocity law is limited to a temperature range well below the glass trans
ition temperature. As a consequence, any model that tries to explain the PD
i and that makes use of this law will also be limited to that particular te
mperature range. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
